Steel fabrication factory

A 5,000 m² structural steel fabrication factory in Al-Sulay, Riyadh — built for our own sites, and now a trusted supplier to external clients.

As part of our expansion plan, PROPER built a dedicated structural steel factory in Al-Sulay, Riyadh. It was launched to meet our own contracting commitments on structural steel — and has since become a trusted supplier to external clients in its own right.

Inside the factory

The machines on our floor.

  • 01

    CNC fiber laser cutting

Plate and sheet cut straight from the CAD file — accurate profiles, clean edges and holes that need no rework.

  • 02

    CNC plasma & oxy-fuel cutting

Thick plate for base plates, gussets, stiffeners and connection plates.

  • 03

    CNC press brake bending

Bent plates, channels, angles and cold-formed profiles, to the specified radius.

  • 04

    Hydraulic shearing

Fast, square cuts on plate and sheet before forming and assembly.

  • 05

    CNC band saws

Beams, columns and hollow sections cut to length and to mitre.

  • 06

    Drilling & punching

Bolt holes drilled and punched so site connections fit first time.

  • 07

    Welding stations

MIG/MAG (GMAW), flux-cored (FCAW), submerged-arc (SAW) and stick (SMAW) welding by qualified welders.

  • 08

    Overhead cranes

Overhead travelling cranes move heavy members safely through every bay.

  • 09

    Blasting & spray painting

Sand and shot blasting, then airless spray painting for an even, specified film thickness.

The line

From the drawing to the standing structure.

  1. 01

    Design & detailing

Structural design and connection detailing in advanced software, checked against the Saudi Building Code and international standards.

  2. 02

    Cutting & fabrication

Profiling, drilling and assembly of beams, columns, trusses and plate girders to the shop drawing.

  3. 03

    Welding & inspection

Qualified welding procedures with controlled heat input, followed by dimensional checks and third-party NDT where the package calls for it.

  4. 04

    Surface treatment

Blast cleaning and protective coating specified for the exposure the structure will actually live in.

  5. 05

    Delivery & erection

Sequenced delivery to the erection programme, installed by PROPER crews — or supplied to your erector, marked and documented.

Coating & corrosion protection

Protected for the Saudi climate.

  • Sandblasting to Sa 2½

Blast-cleaned to near-white metal, so the coating bonds to steel — not to rust or mill scale.

  • Zinc-rich & red-oxide primers

The first line of corrosion protection: zinc-rich for exposed steel, red oxide for protected interiors.

  • Epoxy paint systems

Hard-wearing epoxy coats built up to the specified dry film thickness (DFT).

  • Polyurethane topcoat

A UV-resistant finish that keeps its colour and gloss in the Saudi sun.

  • Intumescent fire-resistant paint

Fireproofing that swells in a fire to protect the steel for the rating the fire consultant specifies.

  • Hot-dip galvanizing

Zinc-coated steel for exposed, coastal and industrial structures that must last for decades.
